RHYS Morgan has called on his Ilkley rugby players to keep their focus in the remaining four games of the season.

He has his sights on the club’s highest-ever finish in the North Premier League.

The Dalesmen are currently ninth with 48 points, but Wirral and Kendal who are three and four points ahead of them can both be overtaken.

Morgan said: “I know it is tough keeping the motivation going at the end of a long season, but I would like us to make a strong finish.

“Getting as high as we can in the table is my aim and I want the players to give it their best shot.”

Ilkley play their final home game of the season against second-bottom Birkenhead Park before finishing off with three away games against Lymm, Kendal and Rossendale.

The Dalesmen will be boosted by the return of influential prop Ollie Holtham for Saturday’s Stacks Field encounter.

He was badly missed in last week’s 42-26 defeat away to champions Preston Grasshoppers where back row Will Davies made his return after a long absence.

He came on as substitute and is set to start against Birkenhead Park as the energetic flanker Joe Lowes in unavailable.

“It was great to have Will back and he will be a good replacement for Lowesy,” said Morgan.

“Lowesy has been great for us this season. He plays on the edge and I feel he has matured as a player.

“He gets around the park well and has established himself in the side.”

With Swedish international Henrik Ek battling to shake off a back injury, new second row Matt Burke will be in contention for a place.

Although Birkenhead Park have only won three times this season, but Morgan insists they are no push overs.

“I don’t want my players thinking it will be easy because it won’t be.

“Birkenhead Park have performed well against some of the top teams in the league and have respect for them.

“We need to make sure our attitude is right because I would like us to put on a good performance for our loyal supporters.”
