ILKLEY go into their final warm-up match at home to Blackburn on Saturday considering their options.

Head coach Nathan Smith was happy with what he saw in last week's 34-24 win at Bridlington.

Now he wants to run the rule over a number of players who were unavailable for that game.

Scrum halves Jack Maplesden and Harry Skelton will be getting game time along with winger Lewis Johnston.

In the pack, prop Ollie Holtman, second row Steve Burns, and back rowers Will Davies, and Martyn Mitchell get their first action.

Smith also plans to utilise Swedish international prop Henrik Ek in his favoured position after playing him at lock at Bridlington.

"There's still plenty of things to work on," said Smith, who was particularly delighted that one of his team's tries came from a rolling maul at Bridlington.

"It is something we have been working on and it was well executed" he added.

Smith has still to decide who will partner Adam Newman in the second row when the North Premier League season gets under way next month, but Burns has a chance to stake his claim.

"We don't have too many second rows so it is a position where we are always looking at."

Smith believes that Bridlington was the perfect test for his men. "They were at full strength, they competed hard, and it was just what we needed," said Smith.

"It helped us get the rustiness out of our systems and now we have to step up a gear against Blackburn.

"Hopefully they will come with a strong side which will give us the sort of work out we need."
