ILKLEY Rugby Club are preparing to host a new sevens competition.
It will be held at Stacks Field on Saturday, July 15 and will involve events for men and women.
The host club will be fielding three teams and among those who have entered so far are Baildon, Old Grovians, Blackburn, Carlisle, Bradford Grammar School, Richmond Renegades, England Deaf, England Police, Sons of Lazarus and Codfathers.
There are 15 teams entered so far in the men's event and three for the women's.
The club's head of rugby Rhys Morgan is bringing the event together. He said: "We are delighted with the response and we are hoping that we can make this an annual event.
"We played at a number of sevens tournaments last year and found them to be successful.
"We are providing free camping at the club, there will be various food and drink outlets and there will be a local group called Road Kill playing in the evening."
Admission will be free and the club are producing a programme.
Ilkley have qualified for the South East finals of the 24 Sevens competition after coming second in the Olney tournament.
Ilkley were defeated 38-26 by Coventry in the finals. Their fate was effectively decided by the concession of three early tries from restarts.
