THE postponement of last Saturday's game at Kendal could proved to be a timely bonus for Ilkley.

With a number of their players nursing injuries it has given them a chance to rest their battered bodies before the home clash with National League Three North's bottom team Stockport on Saturday.

The visitors have lost all 12 of their games to date and have conceded 764 points while scoring just 87.

It looks the ideal game for the Dalesmen to pile on the agony for the Cheshire club, but their head of rugby is urging caution.

"I am naturally cautious person who thinks more of a potential banana skin rather than a five-point win," said Rhys Morgan. "We should remember how tough the match with Firwood Waterloo proved to be after they had suffered some heavy defeats. It is important that we approach the match with the right mental attitude. We must play the game in the right areas of the pitch and earn the right to impose our style of rugby.

"Hopefully we can pick up a win and produce a performance for our spectators, but we must not take the challenge of Stockport too lightly."

Top try scorer Ben Magee may well sit out the match. He has a shoulder and wouldn't have played at Kendal where the match was called off due to a frozen pitch after Ilkley had travelled to Cumbria.

Morgan said: "Some areas of the pitch were playable but the in-goal area was rock solid due to the frost.

"It would have been extremely dangerous to play on and you have to remember these are amateur players, and they have jobs to go to on a Monday plus families to consider. "
