SOME of England's top rugby union stars as set to play at Ilkley in August.

Stacks Field is to host the attractive pre-season friendly between Yorkshire Carnegie and Premiership giants Bath.

The match is due to be played on Saturday, August 13 with a 6pm kick off and will follow Ilkley's home friendly with Falkirk.

Bath have a glittering squad which includes stand off George Ford, centre Jonathan Joseph and winger Anthony Watson who were regulars in England's Grand Slam win and 3-0 series win in Australia.

Welsh international Rhys Priestland, South African flanker Francois Louw and Scotland No 8 David Denton bring an international flavour to the Bath team which was recently boosted by the signing of Welsh starts Talupe Faletau and Luke Charteris.

Ilkley official Tom Gillon said: "It is going to be a big day for us and we are expecting a bumper crowd. We already have had a considerable number on enquiries from Bath fans and they are expected to bring around 700 followers."

Admission will be £10 and will allow spectators to watch both games. There will be no advance tickets.

News of the big match comes as Ilkley celebrate their third sevens tournament win of the season. They followed up their successes at Caldy and Hemsworth with victory at Olney.

After drawing their opening group game with Olney 26-26, they beat Groundworks 60-0 and Flying Fish 26-0 to qualify for the quarter-finals where they beat Hammerheads 19-17.

Rugby Agents were edged out 14-12 in the semi-finals before Ilkley defeated Coventry 19-5 to lift the trophy.
