ILKLEY go into Saturday's home game with Stockport looking for a change of luck

Head of rugby Rhys Morgan believes that crucial decisions and incidents have been going against his side in recent weeks.

The Dalesmen have two wins from their five National Three North games and Morgans is telling his players to keep believing in themselves.

"The margins between success and failure are small. At the level we are now playing every mistake can be punished," Morgan said.

"I still cannot believe that we lost 34-29 to Billingham on Saturday. It is the type of game we need to win to keep ourselves away from trouble.

"I thought there were a lot of good things for us to build on. We got the fast start that I was asking for and the line-out worked perfectly, but crucial decisions went against us."

The most crucial one came just before half-time when Billingham were awarded a penalty try and JH Johnson was given a yellow card.

"That cost us 17 points ," said Morgan. "It proved to be game changing and we felt it was harsh as the player was diving for the line when he was tackled, but the referee ruled it was a high challenge.

"We also felt we should have been awarded a penalty try when Billingham collapsed our rolling maul close to their line.

"I know these things even out over a season, but it is hard telling the players that right now when they have lost a match that they did enough i to win."

Player coach Stevie Graham, full back Ben Magee and flanker Pat Power are all pushing for selection after recovering from injuries.

The return of Magee, last season's top try scorer, will give an added edge to the back division which has been showing promising signs in recent weeks.

"I believe we are getting our game together," added Morgan. "We are not at our best yet, but the players are working hard and they must keep the belief. They have won championships in each of the past two seasons and can compete at this level."
