ILKLEY title-chasing rugby players have been warned to keep up their standards.

With five games to go they are just one point behind leaders Sheffield ahead of Saturday's home game with Dinnington.

While Ilkley were beating Bradford & Bingley 39-22 at Wagon Lane, Sheffield suffered a surprise 18-17 away defeat at North One East strugglers Old Crossleyans.

But coach Rhys Morgan insists they must not let their standards drop or lose their focus.

He said: "We shouldn't get too carried away by the win at Bradford & Bingley. It wasn't a complete performance because we made some silly errors and allowed our discipline to slip.

"We have to make sure we stick to our game plan and play the game in the areas where we can make our strengths count."

Morgan is mindful that Dinnington represent a serious threat to his team's 26-game unbeaten record at Stacks Field.

They beat Ilkley on their own ground earlier in the season and would love to do the double over Ilkley to get their own back for being pipped to the Yorkshire One title by Ilkley last season.

Dinnington, who are coached by the wily Jonny West, have an experienced pack and base their game around their forward power.

It is likely that Ilkley will look to combat this by making changes in the pack. The first-choice second row pairing of Pete Small and James Spencer are available again and that could mean a switch to the back row for Ollie Renton.

Ilkley can also call on the speed and finishing power of Yorkshire under-20 winger Ben Magee.

Morgan said: "If our forwards can compete with Dinnington and provide the ball for the backs I am confident we have the resources to win the game.

"I am sure they will want to draw us into an arm wrestle, but we have to try an impose our game and utilise the speed and finishing power we have in the backs."
