Three Ilkley brothers have been selected to play international rugby for Pakistan.

Temour, Danyail and Adeel Ahmed were all named in the senior squad for the forthcoming Asian Five Nations Championship.

Unfortunately Temour, a second row who has played for Ilkley’s first team, has had to decline the inviation as he has work commitments in the United States.

His brothers Danyail and Adeel headed off to Pakistan on Friday for the three week event which will include matches against India, Uzbekistan and Lebanon.

In December Danyail and Adeel have another international assignment. Both are in the Pakistan under-20s team bidding to win one of the two qualifying places in the 2016 Junior World Cup.

These are great accolades for Danyail, a student at Ilkley Grammar school, and Adeel who studies at Bingley Grammar school.

Ilkley rugby chairman Tom Gillon said: “The club wishes the Ahmed family the best of success and we are very proud that they are playing at an international level as club ambassadors.

“This is a great achievement and very special for their family as well as their extended family, Ilkley RFC."

The Ahmed’s are following a similar path to former Ilkley scrum half Kirk Arundale who won international hours with Indonesia during his time at Stacks Field.
