Preston 6 Ben Rhydding 0
BEN Rhydding's recent revival came to an abrupt halt as they were hit for six by the league leaders.
It was always going to be a tough call and so it proved as Preston produced a clinical performance on their home turf.
Preston scored after just six minutes from a corner after Will Rutter in goal made a series of staggering saves, the last attempt went in. They extended their lead to 2-0 by half-time despite Ben Rhydding's rearguard action.
Rhydding created openings but the last connection to the forwards never quite made it.
Preston’s movement was far superior to Rhydding’s and it was easy for them to get in behind defenders on the overlap.
The third goal was a simple connection due to weak marking.
Rhydding had a spell of excellent pressure and forced a flurry of saves from the Preston keeper but failed to score.
Further poor touches led to them leaking two quick goals as they began to sink.
Preston put a last chance away in the dying minutes to add insult to injury and Rhydding had to stomach a scoreline that made the game look more unbalanced than it should have been.
