Ben Rhydding 4 Liverpool Sefton 0

BEN Rhydding bounced back from their disappointing defeat at Kendal with a fine victory which has taken them up third in the table.

Rhydding started well with several penalty corner attempts from Tanisha Janzen and Jo Ellis being saved by the visiting goalkeeper.

However, Rhydding scored two goals in quick succession, the first a penalty corner strike by Janzen found the bottom corner after 16 minutes.

A minute later, Jo Ellis crossed the ball to Michelle Morris who deflected the ball home at the far post.

Rhydding were given the luxury of time and space in possession for long periods of the game which gave them the chance to play flowing hockey and create many opportunities in the attacking circle.

Another well-worked penalty corner was converted by Eleanor Trafford on the right post to leave the score 3-0 at half-time.

The second half brought a lot of possession for the home side but had to remain vigilant in defence. Some fantastic defensive tackling by captain Rachelle Le Bourdon and Fran Holmes ensured that a clean sheet was kept by the home side which means their goal difference looks more positive.

Rebecca Dallas made it 4-0 on the hour with a drag flick from a penalty corner.

Ben Rhydding face a tricky away match on Saturday against Whitley Bay & Tynemouth.
