Ben Rhydding 4 Alderley Edge 4

BEN Rhydding finally earned a point in the North Premier League but should have walked away with three.

They were disappointed not to have recorded their first win in a game of cat and mouse.

Rhydding scored after just 56 seconds with some beautiful build-up play.

Myles Locke slid the ball through to Max Helme, who timed a weighted pass to Robert Ramsden for him to edge an early and deadly ball across the goal for Danny Foster to finish in confident style.

Such a promising start deceived the crowd and Alderley replied just minutes later when a badly-placed aerial drew a counter-attack, which produced an equalising goal.

Andrew Lorimer performed well in his debut and forced an error in the Alderley outfit, allowing Joe Drakard to step through and create an opportunity for Will Musgrave in his favourite place on the edge of the circle.

He delivered a remarkable goal, his shot screamed into the top corner and put Rhydding ahead at 2-1. The pendulum continued to swing and Alderley had the edge as they scored an opportunist goal.

Some delightful hockey from Ben Rhydding led to their third goal. Deception and selflessness from Danny Foster put Musgrave through to nudge the ball into the path of Connor Dowley.

Foster was on hand again to offer the ball to Dowley in front of goal who showed composure and skill to eliminate several defenders before firing a shot into roof of the net.

Alderley levelled with a cracking goal but Musgrave replied with his trademark reverse which was unleashed from nowhere.

Alderley drew back level with a controversial goal into an open net with Cam Herbert, Rhydding’s keeper, blocked.

Rhydding nearly claimed the victory with a late corner but had to settle for the draw.
