Ben Rhydding 1 University of Durham 1

WITH two draws from their previous two league games, Ben Rhydding were eager to gain maximum points from their Investec Women's Conference North match against the students of Durham University.

Ben Rhydding started the strongest and were able to carve out a few opportunities that put Durham on the back foot.

Quick thinking from Rachelle Le Bourdon, found Jo Ellis in space. Some intricate passing between Ellis and Jess Purvis found Rebecca Dallas in the circle who won Ben Rhydding their first penalty corner of the match.

Francine Holmes-Brown’s pass was deflected by Ellis to give the home side the lead after 15 minutes.

Durham created few chances throughout the first half, but managed to earn themselves a penalty corner. After several attempts the ball finally trickled over the line to leave the score 1-1 at the break.

Ben Rhydding dominated most of the second half and created good chances to take the lead, but the Durham defence held firm and withstood the pressure the home side created.

A point gained but the home side feel they should have taken all 3 points.

Next week is an away fixture against Liverpool Sefton Ladies.
