Cannock 2 Ben Rhydding 2

Ben Rhydding made the trip to Cannock knowing that this was a key game in which to gain three Investec Women's Conference North points and keep the momentum from their draw at Sutton Coldfield.

They started well and with only eight minutes gone, a well-executed penalty corner drag flick from Rebecca Dallas went high into the net.

Ben Rhydding kept on the pressure and was rewarded with a penalty stroke after a bad stick tackle in the circle on Laura Smith, who stepped up and calmly and slotted the ball home for 2-0 to the visitors.

Five minutes before the break saw Cannock pull a goal back from a penalty corner.

Cannock took advantage of Ben Rhydding’s habit of keep giving the ball away.

They found a lot more space in the Ben Rhydding defence and caught them on the counter attack that led to a touch off a defender in the circle to level the score at 2-2.

Ben Rhydding missing key midfield players in Sarah Bell and Jo Ellis, picked up the pace in the last tenminutes to try and gain all three points, but they couldn’t convert the chances that came to them from penalty corners.

A tough test next week when Durham University arrive at BRHC. 1.30pm push back.
