Sarah Bell’s 70th minute penalty corner conversion enabled Rhydding to take one point against leaders Wakefield.

A trip to College Grove is always a daunting one for Ben Rhydding. However, the sun was shining, creating good hockey conditions.

Rhydding had to soak up a lot of early pressure as Wakefield’s good passing and high ball pace kept them on the back foot.

The second half saw Ben Rhydding come out with a new attitude, hoping to prove they had the quality to match their rivals.

Strong defending on Rhddying's goal line unfortunately led to a penalty flick which Heather Stafford coolly converted in the 44th minute.

One minute later, Rhydding were back into the Wakefield's half and had won a short corner.

A straight strike from LeBourdon reduced the deficit to one goal.

The game took a feisty turn, with both teams supplying hard tackles, resulting in a yellow card for Wakefield’s Sophie Davies for a wayward stick challenge.

Not long after they were back to full strength, Wakefield converted a short corner to make it 3-1.
