| Multi-talented Vicky Winter |
BEN Rhydding Hockey Club star Vicky Winters is hoping to be fit enough to turn out for her other team - Guiseley Ladies FC - when they take on the might of Leeds United on Sunday.
Vicky, who has earned the nickname Shearer' for her goalscoring exploits on the soccer pitch, has been out of action following a knee operation. She has returned to hockey action but awaits her return to her other sporting love.
Guiseley Ladies take on the might of Leeds United in the West Riding County Women's Cup on Sunday (1pm kick-off) and they are hoping that locals, including the many girls now playing the game, will come out and give them their support.
The tie against Leeds United Ladies Reserves was postponed a couple of weeks ago and in a desperate bid to get in some match practice before this crucial game Guiseley Ladies switched last Sunday's league game to York when the Nethermoor Park pitch was unplayable.
They were rewarded with a 2-2 draw in which they had to show their battling qualities when a number of players were injured, including goalkeeper Jo Farquhar who was stretchered off with a back injury after a collision with a York player, and they were left to play out the game with just ten players.
It will be a mighty challenge for the Guiseley team who are a few divisions below their opponents in league status with Leeds United Reserves currently topping the Women's Premier League Reserves Midlands/North Division One table.
Last Sunday the Leeds side hammered Preston North End 8-1 so Free entry to the game.
