Green Lane wicketkeeper Andy Pickup appeals against Rawdon's Stewart Smith

GUISELEY continued their good start to life back in Division One notching a seven wicket win at Adel where the home side was dismissed for 97.

Doing the damage were skipper David Pennett and Andrew Paley who each bagged three wickets. Their in-form Australian batsman Dean Russ then continued his fine form with a half-century as Guiseley coasted home.

Beckwithshaw after their win over Rawdon last week made short work of Otley dismissing them for 92 in reply to their 187 of which opener Phil Critchley made 65.

He was well supported by Stuart Carey with 41 who made James Davies (4-49) and Adam Vale (3-41) work hard for their wickets.

Jonathan Lilley then bagged 4-25 and Australian seamer Alex Malcolm 4-20 as Otley were dismissed in 27 overs.

Bilton also notched a second win this time having the better of reigning champions Collingham despite the efforts of Toby Jacklin (6-64) and opener Brett Leigh (44).

Bilton posted a score of 167 thanks to good knocks from Karl Jankowicz (40no) and Paul Cannings (36). Collingham then fell for 126 with Melbourne all-rounder Shane Murdoch taking 4-42 off 15 overs and Andy Walker a superb 5-17 off 13 overs.

In Division Two Silsden had the bowling hero of the day in Zeeshan Qasim whose 9-29 off 15.1 overs saw Calverley succumb for 108.

James Hall prevented the perfect ten by having opener J Thornhill caught by Lee Bilborough.

Only Basil King with 38 showed any resistance as Qasim ran riot. His marvellous return however is surprisingly only the 19th best nine wicket haul in the league's history - the best being 9-3 for Pool's Naveed Arif against Horsforth in 2001.

Silsden rubbed off the runs with five wickets in hand.

A knock of 65 from Steve Young set Tong Park up for a score of 156-8 against Follifoot who replied with 120-9 to draw thanks to 43 from opener M Stanford.

Bardsey were no match for their visitors Harden who dismissed them for 155 and then knocked off the runs for the loss of just two wickets.

There were four wickets apiece for R Wear and S Wood while opener Lindsey Scown hammered an unbeaten 87 and had assistance from J Roper with 58 not out as the target was met with ease.

In Division Three Thackley took full points after uprooting Alwoodley for a mere 54 with M Hanson picking up 4-9 off nine overs.

Thackley had posted 177-7 with a half-century from opener P Naylor.

Ilkley made a decent enough score of 207-9 with opener Michael Sant hammering 96 and fellow opener T Malik 49 but it was not enough to stop the Leeds side from marching to victory. They lost just one wicket with B Phillips hitting an unbeaten 89 and F Allam an unbeaten 88.

Menston lost by 31 runs to visiting Illingworth who had made slow progress putting on just 62 for the first wicket off 26 overs. The introduction of spinners Charles Dracup (7-49 off 18 overs) and Abe Smith (3-21) changed the course of the innings with Illingworth losing all their remaining wickets for the addition of just 56 more runs.

Menston made a poor start in reply losing their first five wickets for just 31 runs. An enterprising partnership between skipper Nick Thornton (31) and Ryan Robinson threatend to take the game away from Illingworth but Menston went on to crash out for 87.

Doing the damage were Richard Dixon (4-21) and overseas player Pieter Venter (3-29).

Bolton Villas bagged the six points in their game with Horsforth dismissing their opponents just 14 runs short of their target of 118. Victory was due to some good bowling from S Lawrence (4-38) and C Spivey (4-18).

Skipton opener Kevin Owens looked as if he had set his side on the road to victory with a half-century which laid the foundations for a total of 217-6. There was excellent support from Ricky Martin (45) and Gary Owens (38no).

Hall Park however had no notion of surrendering and hung on at 131-7 for a point with a stubborn 34 from opener Amjad Hussain and 22 not out from Tanveer.

Ben Rhydding journeyed the few miles to Addingham and returned with the six points after putting the home side out for 70. Some excellent bowling saw D Kenna take 3-1, P Patel 3-9 and Zahidi 3-11.

Ben Rhydding were made to struggle a little by an excellent spell from Simon Farrand (2-9 off seven overs) but an unbeaten 35 from opener A Miller saw them home.

Second Teams IN the Airedale and Wharfedale League Second Teams Green Lane's Michael Ellis was the star of the show in their one wicket win over Horsforth.

He bagged 7-71 off 21.5 overs as Horsforth fell for 155. He also struck 23 vital runs after C Elsworth had laid the foundation for victory with 65.

Rawdon were another side to grab a full haul of points dismissing Steeton for 108, 31 runs short of their target. A 6-33 return by Jonathan Doidge saw Rawdon to victory.

Collingham set Bilton a target of 217 losing just two wickets. S Collings made a superb 86 not out after opener J Ford (69) had set the tempo. Collingham fell for 103 in reply.

North Leeds made a mammoth 254-5 with openers T Hales (70) and P Phillips (57) paving the way with a stand of 128. The good work was carried on by Alan Stevens who made 48 and Barry Singleton with an unbeaten 34.

Harden then fell for 160 despite a fine half-century from B Hinchliffe. Singleton completed a good day with a return of 6-28 off a superb 20 over stint.

In Division Two Hall Park set Calverley a target of 213-7 after Mark Scaife had hit 117. Calverley hung on for a point at 109-7.

Beckwithshaw were skittled for 79 as Tong Park's Andy Horner took 4-4 and Daniel Gilks 4-29. Park went on to win by four wickets but struggled against the bowling of A Gott (4-18).

Ilkley picked up six points from a nine wicket win over visitors Colton who they dismissed for a mere 63. Joe McTigue had an excellent day taking 6-32 off 11.5 overs and had good support from Mark Coldwell with 3-10. Rory Kroon then led the victory charge with an unbeaten 31.

In Division Three Menston were restricted to 118-9 as Tom Rhea took 4-24 off 12 overs. He then became the star of the day hitting 49 from the opening spot as New Rover coasted home with three wickets in hand.

Olicanians enjoyed a 77 runs win over Woodhouse in which opener Ian Thomas made 48 and Giles Phillips 40. Phil Howell then did the damage with the ball taking 6-27 off 17 overs.

Upper Wharfedale were another side to bag six points. They made 136-8 and then dismissed Bolton Villas for 60 with J Bean taking 3-9 and John Slater 3-16.

Bardsey held out for a draw against Thackley who made 181-9 with opener R Clayton top scoring with 67. Bardsey replied with 162-9 with a fine 48 from P Flannery.
