MARK McEneaney made sure Hall Park beat the weather and closest rivals Leeds Modernians and sent his side back into the lead in the tense scrap for promotion from Division Three.

Already the leading Aire-Wharfe bowler, McEneaney produced a season's-best 6-39 spell that ripped through the Modernians batting and took his tally of wickets to 64.

With Jonathan Postle picking up 3-41, Modernians were dismissed for 93 and it was McEneaney, the second highest run scorer in the division, who saw Park home with an unbeaten 30.

Tong Park Esholt’s Mahir Ali is second in the league’s bowling stats and he took his total to 60 victims with a 4-14 spell at Alwoodley. The home side were on the back foot from the start and with Will Murray (6-19) tearing them apart they could only muster 33, which third-placed Park passed without loss.

Fourth-placed Green Lane were left frustrated when the weather denied them victory at Bardsey. Michael Sanderson (6-60) and Neil Britton (4-35) restricted the home side to 204 and with Waleed Akhtar (48no) going well, Lane looked set for victory at 81-1 when the rain ended play.

With three games to go, the three promotion spots are between Hall Park (285pts), Modernians (278), Tong Park Esholt (273) and Green Lane (260).

Elsewhere in the division, Doug Bradley (62) and No10 David Blackburn (48no) helped Menston to 226-8 but the game was called off with Bolton Villas on 41-1.

Neither the rain, nor a stand of 62 between Shaun Brentnall (32) and Majid Inayat (25) could rescue Silsden who were dismissed for 91 which Olicanian eased past with seven wickets in hand.

Steeton beat fellow strugglers Collingham by eight-runs to raise hopes they can claw their way out of the Division One relegation dog fight.

Despite a five-wicket haul from Toby Jacklin, Steeton scrambled their way to 173 with Craig Walton making 59 and Freddie Pearson 40no. Paul Hardwick (3-44), Stephen Pearson (4-42) and Josh Gill (3-35) then managed to deny the visitors victory.

At the other end of the table, Otley kept up their title challenge with an eight wicket win over Kirkstall. James Davies (5-34) starred as the visitors crashed out for 82 and Jamie Pickering (54no) saw Otley home in 11.2 overs.

Meanwhile a 7-32 haul from Istikhar Hussain earned title contenders Beckwithshaw a comfortable win at Horsforth. The home side were skittled out for 64, half of the coming from Byron Boshoff and ten more from extras.

Ilkley looked to have Burley on the rack at 28-4 but Ed Brown, who included 15 fours and three sixes in his 112 off 75 balls, and Jason Wright (80) put on 196 allowing the home side to declare on 246-7.

Wright then picked up three quick wickets on his way to 4-48 and even though Ilkley’s middle order battled well, they were never going to win from 11-4. Shane Etherington (3-39) and Dan Gill (3-52) completed the job for Burley.

Sam Wilkinson (5-31) and Jake Zjilinszky (5-26) dismissed Bilton for 99 to set up a five-wicket win for Pool.

Andrew Duckworth (56) and Ben Heritage (42) top scored in Rawdon’s 189 but the game was called off with North Leeds on 43-2.

Colton beat Harden by five wickets to ensure promotion from Division Two, a result that almost certainly means Harden will be in the third tier next season

Second-placed Guiseley were frustrated in their chase of Follifoot’s 178-7, Peter Towner (55no) and Richard Nichols (63no) within 14 of victory when rain halted play.

Ben Rhydding could find no way of stopping Shahid Nadeem who took 4-38 as the home side were bowled out for 129. He then hit 72 to help Skipton clinch victory by five wickets.

Shane Marshall (5-59) and Andrew Stothart (3-40) bowled out Calverley for 103 but then Tom Westerman struck with two wickets in his first over and despite a half century from Jack Holland, Thackley were bowled out in the rapidly declining light for 83. Jonathan Hudson took 4-41.
