BURLEY booked a Waddilove Cup semi-final spot for the fifth time in six years with 72-run win at Ben Rhydding.

With Charlie Swallow (5-51) plugging away, Burley didn’t find runs easy to come by and were thankful for a half century from Charlie Davy and useful contributions from Jason Wright (34), Dan Revis (28) and Tom Day (28) to get them to 204-8.

Forrest Hamilton and Lewis Bolton gave Ben Rhydding a steady start but when Bolton was out at 40 they lost five wickets for 12 runs with Wright picking up two in consecutive balls.

Shane Etherington (3-14) captured three of Ben Rhydding’s top batsmen and they were bowled out for just 132.

Ryan Sharrocks completed a brilliant personal weekend with a match-winning display for Horsforth against Ilkley.

After a four-wicket haul in the league, his seven-over spell of 5-14 saw Ilkley bowled out for 163 in which Alex Bailey (39) and Jonathan Hughes (29) were the main contributors.

Horsforth made a shaky start to their reply. Henry Wilson trapped Leon Harber for a duck in the first over and Rob Spivey picked up three cheap wickets to have the home side struggling at 32-4.

But Mark Gilliver (64no) put on 76 with Sharrocks (36) and 59 with Bailey Worcester (28no) to clinch a five-wicket win.

Jamie Pickering took 4-11 in a 3.3 over spell as holders Otley beat Collingham by six wickets in a repeat of last year's final.

Collingham were dismissed for 162 and Pickering followed up with 45 as he and Josh Atkinson (47) helped Otley to victory.

Thackley’s miserable weekend continued when Bilton skittled them out for 101 on the way to a nine-wicket triumph.

In the semi-finals on July 19, Burley will play Horsforth and Otley face Bilton.
