OTLEY completed the Aire-Wharfe league and cup double, despite another soggy Saturday that saw most of the games in the league failing to finish.

James Davies’s side have dominated Division One this season, losing only three times and winning four more league games than any other side to add their first title since 1993 to the Waddilove Cup they had last won in 1988.

They were well on the way to avenging one of those defeats, by last season’s champions Beckwithshaw, when the weather intervened on Saturday.

Josh Atkinson, whose 103 took him past 500 runs in all competitions, led the way as Otley raced to 224-7, and they had their opponents struggling at 103-4 when play was abandoned.

Second-placed Burley, meanwhile, were only able to pick up three batting bonus points against Kirkstall, Charlie Davy top-scoring with 78 not out, which meant that they would be unable to catch Otley even if they won. As it was, their game was also called off, much to the relief of Kirkstall, who limped to 82-6.

At the other end of the table, Ben Rhydding were denied a possible victory over Rawdon and so were relegated three seasons after a remarkable run of two consecutive promotions saw them join the top flight for the first time.

Robbie Miller (72) top-scored in their 158-9, with Conor McInerney (4-29) and Anthony Gilks (3-33) the main wicket-takers.

Gilks hit 40 in Rawdon’s reply, and the game was on a knife-edge with the visitors on 140-8 when it was called off.

Rawdon’s five bonus points mean they are now safe, thanks in part to Guiseley, who won their vital relegation head-to-head with Pool.

Harrison Durkin (48no) and Brian Jackson, who hit 40 to pass 800 runs in all competitions, eased Guiseley past the visitors' 103-9 total.

Guiseley need only five points from their final match and Kirkstall two to make sure Pool are relegated.

Nick Cockcroft (38no) and Paul Dover (44no) put on an undefeated 86 in Ilkley’s 187-7 but, despite the efforts of Dave Pennett (3-25) and Rob Spivey (4-13), Bilton survived on 88-7 before rain claimed the game.

However, bonus points lifted Ilkley above their opponents into fourth place in the table.

Andrew Foulds hit 65 not out in 67 balls but Steeton’s 150-6 was overhauled by Collingham with three wickets in hand.

Follifoot clinched promotion from Division Two a year after dropping down by beating second-placed North Leeds, and Green Lane took a giant step towards joining them by beating Colton and so taking over third place only six points behind North Leeds.

Michael Abbott (67) was the main contributor to Lane’s modest 166, and they looked to be on the way to defeat when Colton reached 99-2 but Michael Slater (3-30) and Waleed Akhtar (3-19) turned things round and Lane won by 20 runs.

Joe Ollerenshaw (43) and Paul Naylor (41no) led Thackley’s successful chase of Upper Wharfedale’s 151-9, which leaves Wharfedale as favourites to join Bolton Villas in relegation.

Skipton are not out of danger but eased their concerns with a win over Adel, thanks to Richard Nichols (76), Steve Carling (96) and Andew Fergie (5-19).

A sixth-wicket stand of 40 between Danny Groom (38) and Andrew Bourne (25no) helped Tong Park Esholt recover from 55-5 to pass Harden’s 134-9 and ensure Park’s safety.

Like Skipton, Harden still need seven points from the final game to be sure of staying up.

All the Division Three games were abandoned but there were some notable individual efforts, not least an undefeated 176 opening stand for Olicanian by Chris Wheeler (73no) and David Healey (78no).

Hall Park’s Jonathan Postle took 6-41 against Addingham to pass 40 wickets for the second year in a row, while there were half- centuries for Majid Inyat, for Silsden, and Horsforth’s Ollie Hardaker.
