Three issues remain to be resolved on Saturday's final day of the Aire-Wharfe League season, and all eyes will be on the three matches that will decide who is promoted from Division Two and who joins Calverley in dropping into Division Three.

Leaders Ilkley only need two points to ensure they stay ahead of their opponents - third-placed Knaresborough - and book a place in the top flight for the first time in 30 years but, faced with a side containing match-winners like Jonathan Corcoran and Mike Baxandall, nerves are certain to be jangling.

When the teams met at the halfway point, Knaresborough were top and Ilkley in seventh spot but Jonathan Hughes’s men won by five wickets and started their climb to the summit, while their opponents lost three in a row.

With the teams either side of them slogging it out, second-placed Rawdon have a chance of clinching the title as well as promotion when they entertain Bolton Villas.

On paper their victory looks nailed-on against a Villas side that have taken only nine points from eight completed matches in the second half of the season.

But Villas need points to make sure they don’t slip into the second relegation spot, so will be going flat out to take something from the match.

Defeat could well see Villas go down because Bardsey, who are currently four points behind them, have clawed their way towards safety with two wins in their last three completed games and face already-relegated Calverley.

Elsewhere, there will be an ‘if only’ feel to the match between Thackley and Tong Park Esholt, which at one time looked as though it might be the tussle to decide the title but both just missed out.

Green Lane travel to Adel.

In Division One, Otley entertain Ben Rhydding, hoping that victory would lift them into runners-up spot above Bilton, who are three points ahead and travel to last year’s champions Collingham.

With Stewart Smith in a rich vein of form – 344 runs in his last five innings – Otley will start favourites but will also be aware that Ben Rhydding won quite comfortably when they met earlier.

Burley should finish an up-and-down season with a win at relegated Follifoot but Steeton might find it harder against Kirkstall, who have picked up some form in the second half of the season. Guiseley travel to Pool.

Harden’s year-long stay in the top flight would end with a bang if they could pull off the almost impossible and become the first side to beat champions Beckwithshaw in the league this season.

Division Three champions Skipton entertain Addingham and will hope to round off an outstanding season with their 15th win which would take them past 100 points.

Bottom club Silsden travel to the other promoted side, Upper Wharfedale, while elsewhere there is nothing more than pride at stake as Menston face New Rover, Horsforth play Woodhouse, Hall Park entertain Illingworth and Olicanian travel to Alwoodley.
