Beckwithshaw inflicted a crushing defeat on Burley to claim the Aire-Wharfe League championship for the first time since 2009.

Coincidentally, that was the year Calverley and Silsden were relegated from Division One, and their decline continued at the weekend, with Calverley relegated from Division Two and Silsden confirmed as needing to apply for re-election in Division Three.

Having pulled off a miraculous Waddilove Cup final win over Beckwithshaw by defending a total of just 87, Burley could muster no such heroics this time after Istikhar Hussain (8-21) skittled them for 54, clinching the title for Beckwithshaw.

The defeat saw Burley drop to fourth as they were overtaken by Otley, who won a thrilling match by six wickets against Steeton.

Andrew Foulds hit 117, his second century in three weeks, as Steeton set a target of 235-7, with James Wilcock picking up four wickets.

Stewart Smith (44) gave Otley a solid start but it was the big hitting of James Davies (80no in 59 balls) and Matt O’Grady (52no in 36 balls) that clinched the win ahead of the threat-ening weather.

Harden’s relegation was confirmed when they collapsed to 92 all out in reply to Collingham’s 228-3.

Guiseley (136-8) needed some rearguard action by Damon Reeve (28), Dave Pennett (25) and Chris Wain (26no) to hang on for a point at Bilton (205-5), while Jason Wright (3-15) and Alex Miller (5-10) skittled Pool for 62 in reply to Ben Rhydding’s 145.

Ilkley went top in the tight Division Two promotion race on a day when all six contenders were pitched against one of their closest rivals.

Luke Bott and Andy Wheeler picked up three cheap wickets each as Adel were dismissed for 97, with Jon-athan Hughes (42no) leading Ilkley’s successful run chase for the loss of a single wicket.

That took them above Knaresborough, who were thwarted after bowling out Thackley for 107 – a total rescued from 40-7 thanks to Mahir Ali (40) and Shane Marshall (26).

The home side seemed to be on track for victory until the match was abandoned with them on 68-2.

The most exciting finish of the day came at Tong Park Esholt, where David Gilks smashed sixes off the first two balls of the final over to give Rawdon a two-wicket victory.

Gareth Wilkinson (85) and Andrew Bourne (51) had top-scored in Tong Park Esholt’s 233-9.

Paul Malkin (60) and Joe Loorham (62) put on 122 for Rawdon’s second wicket but they still needed nine to win going into the final over when Gilks stepped forward.

Calverley needed a miracle to escape the drop and were denied any chance when the game was called off after North Leeds’ innings of 223-9.

Bolton Villas were probably happier than Bardsey when their match also fell victim to the weather because it leaves them eight points clear of their opponents, who currently fill the second relegation spot. Syed Hashmi picked up 5-31 for Green Lane at Colton but that was also abandoned.

Skipton need just four more points from their final three games to clinch promotion from Division Three after thrashing Hall Park by eight wickets.

Faisal Hussain (4-24), Richard Nichols (3-30) and Andrew Fergie (3-9) bowled out Park for 79, with Arshad Latif (49no) securing all six points for Skipton.

Upper Wharfedale (225) remain second after beating Addingham by 123 runs, with Horsforth one point further back.

Mark McEneaney (68) starred as they passed Menston’s 138 with four wickets in hand. Silsden were dismissed for 93 by New Rover.
