Burley must shake off their recent indifferent form and produce their A game if they are to triumph over Aire-Wharfe League leaders Beckwithshaw in Sunday’s Waddilove Cup final at Knaresborough.

One win in their last seven league outings has seen them slip to third in the table, trailing their final opponents by 28 points.

But there is plenty to give them optimism as they chase cup glory for the ninth time.

Beckwithshaw looked vulnerable for the first time last week, when they were second best in every department to Kirkstall, and they face a tough match against second-placed Bilton just 24 hours before the final.

And Burley also know that in the Brook brothers, Charlie Davy, Ed Brown, Shane Etherington and Neil Davies, they have players with cup-final experience, capable of producing match-winning performances.

If Sunday’s match will spell the difference between an okay season and a memorable one for Burley, the next two Saturdays will be crucial for Skipton’s league ambitions.

Currently eight points clear at the top of Division Three, they face their two closest rivals in successive weeks.

On Saturday, they take on Upper Wharfedale, who have shrugged off a poor start to the season and put themselves in contention with four wins in their last five matches.

After that come Horsforth, who are currently third after three straight wins, including against Wharfedale, and will be full of confidence as they enter their derby clash with Hall Park, who were skittled out for 43 last weekend.

Addingham entertain Olicanian, Silsden travel to Illingworth and Menston take on Alwoodley.

Having moved into second spot in Division Two, Ilkley will look to maintain their challenge against a Bolton Villas side that are starting to look over their shoulder at Bardsey’s late survival run.

Having lost their place in the top two, Rawdon need to win at North Leeds and hope their rivals slip up, while Tong Park Esholt and Thackley will expect to keep alive their outside hopes of going up with victories over Green Lane and Calverley.

Burley warm up for their cup final with a Division One trip to Ben Rhydding, who are without a win in four starts.

Guiseley travel to Kirkstall, who are on a high after that display against Beckwithshaw and Otley entertain Pool, while Harden continue their desperate fight against relegation at Steeton, the only side they have beaten so far this season.
