Damon Reeve kept his nerve and stroked the final scheduled ball to the boundary to clinch an Aire-Wharfe League tie for Guiseley against Harden.

It was probably the most fitting result for a roller-coaster match that both sides will feel they should have won.

Harden especially will look back on it as three points dropped if that turns out to be the margin by which they are relegated at the end of the season.

Captain Richard Wear (51) top scored as Harden produced their best batting performance so far, 225-8, with Tallan Wright taking 4-35.

Guiseley looked shaky at 53-3 but then Peter Towner, on his way to making 101, and Dave Pennett (66) put on 156 for the fourth wicket to swing things their way.

Harden hit back with two quick run outs and with five balls to go, the home side still needed ten to win. Three singles, left seven off two. Reeve grabbed two off the next ball and, in a breathless atmosphere, he sent the last to the boundary.

The biggest consolation for Harden was that Pool, the side just above them, lost at Burley, reducing the gap between them to 11 points.

David Brook (46) gave Burley a solid start in their pursuit of the visitors’ 171-9 and after a mid-innings blip, Danny Bryan (29no) and Richard Brook (38) steadied things and ensured the win.

Burley remain 17 points adrift of leaders Beckwithshaw who needed only 33.3 overs to ease past Steeton’s 180-9, in which Jonathan Best had hit an unbeaten half century.

Chris Wynd (57), Lewis Bolton (55) and Robbie Miller (45no) took Ben Rhydding to a five-wicket win over Collingham that puts them up to third in the table after Otley crashed to defeat at Kirkstall despite the efforts of Stewart Smith, who carried his bat for 73no in their 157.

Rawdon sit proudly at the top of Division Two after Andrew Doidge (5-56) and Ryan Gladwin (72) starred in a two wicket win over Colton.

Tong Park Esholt made it six wins out of seven when they overcame previous leaders Knaresborough and are now only one point off the promotion places.

Brett Kinsey (5-52) picked up five wickets for the second week in a row as Knaresborough were dismissed for 205 and Australian Andrew Bourne (86no) and Sean Kirkley, with 32no in 19 balls, saw Park home.

Ilkley are also in the chasing pack after Harry Neilsen (95) and Alex Bailey (88) led their chase of North Leeds’ 210-7, as are Thackley who were far too strong for Bardsey, Majid Khan (69), Yasser Ali (66) and Paul Naylor (53no) the main contributors.

Ben Waller scored 80no as Calverley recovered from 9-2 to 257-8 but an opening stand of 216 between Phil Atkinson (109) and Michael Abbott (92) put Green Lane on the way to victory that keeps Calverley rooted to the foot of the table.

Steve Shuttleworth hit 93 not out but Bolton Villas were still 14 short of victory against Adel at the close and had to settle for two points.

Skipton march on at the top of Division Three after a surprisingly easy win over second placed Illingworth, Steve Carling (65) and Richard Nichols (55) leading the batting while Faisal Hussain (4-23) and Graham Summersgill (3-24) did the damage with the ball.

Leon Harber (84) and Bailey Worcester (54no) were the Horsforth heroes as they passed Silsden’s 192 but Hall Park went down at Woodhouse despite a battling 65no from Aaron Chapman.

Ricky Palacio contributed 141 as Addingham raced to 270-6 but Dean Harvey (113) and Gareth Lee (114no) clinched a six-wicket win for Menston.

Olicanian could find no answer to Dan Parkinson (8-37) and were bowled out for 93 giving Upper Wharfedale a win that takes them up to second.
