Burley took full advantage of Steeton’s first defeat of the season in Aire-Wharfe League Division One.

A 75-run win over Ben Rhydding has put Burley in second spot behind Beckwithshaw.

Nick Brook, who the previous week hit an unbeaten half-century in the league and a century in the cup, continued in the same vein, smashing 18 boundaries in his 123 as Burley set a 241-9 target.

Ben Rhydding were never in the chase after collapsing to 30-4 in the first seven overs and, even though Laurie O’Connor (38), Jason Wright (42) and Lewis Bolton (39) staged a middle-order rally, Brook (3-52) and Shane Etherington (5-51) had the last word.

The left-armed pace of Tallan Wright (6-32) skittled Kirkstall Educational for 94, setting up a comfortable five-wicket win for Guiseley, but Otley went down by 43 runs at Pool, despite the efforts of No 9 batsman James Wilcock (34no).

Harden notched their first win since gaining promotion to Division One, a six-wicket victory ending Steeton’s three-match winning streak.

Recently-signed Chris Baines (70) shared a stand of 59 with Andrew Luxton (20) but the rest of the Steeton batting toiled against Richard Wear (4-34) and Roshan Livera (3-28) and were dismissed for just 129.

Wear (47no) and James Roper (29) then clinched the six points that leave Harden bottom of the table but now in close touch with the sides above them.

It was a good day all round for bowlers, none more so than Thackley duo Nasser Jamal and Mahir Ali at Division Two strugglers Calverley.

The hosts looked in with a chance of improving on their solitary point when Jonathan Hudson (4-44) and Tom Simpson (3-46) restricted Thackley to 143-9, in which Dean Skillicorn (47no) top-scored.

But Ali then produced a stunning 5-26 and Jamal followed up his knock of 31 with a sensational nine-over spell that included five maidens, taking 5-5 – including a hat-trick – as Calverley collapsed to 32.

Bowlers were also on top at Green Lane, where Adeel Ashraf (4-42) and Mike Ellis (3-32) bowled out Tong Park Esholt for 111.

But the visitors quickly turned the tables, Nadeem Hanif (8-18) starring as Lane collapsed to 33 all out.

Ben Morley (58) and Paul Malkin (54) shared a century stand and, with contributions from Joe Loorham (40) and Ryan Gladwin (59), Rawdon raced to 276-7.

They had to settle for four points though as they were unable to remove North Leeds opener Tom Boxell (103no).

Four wickets each for Mike Oldfield and Sayed Hashimi and an unbeaten half-century from Andrew Clarke were the highlights of Bolton Villas’ five-wicket win over Ilkley.

Division Three leaders Skipton were bowled out for the first time this season, Arshad Latif top-scoring with 43 of their 151.

But Gary Owens (7-35) and Richard Nicholls (3-44) dismissed Upper Wharfedale for 101 to ensure Skipton maintain their record of only one point dropped in play this season.

Mark McEneaney (7-28) and Mathew Bates (58no) were the local heroes as Horsforth won the derby clash with Hall Park to go second.

Menston looked in trouble at Alwoodley when they were out for 95, Gareth Lee (40) and Chris Baldwin (24no) being their main contributors.

Baldwin (4-30) and Dean Harvey (3-9) then saved the day, ripping through the home batting for just 70.

Ben Brearley (74) and Jamie Hudson (53) led the way in Olicanian’s 177-5 before Chris Campbell (5-37) and Ed Broadley (3-14) skittled Addingham for 87, despite the efforts of Rob Ellis (54).

Silsden collapsed from 91-4 to 115 all out, leaving Illingworth to ease to an eight-wicket win.
