Guiseley need right attitude to keep cup rivals at bay

Guiseley manager Steve Kittrick has warned his players that attitude is everything as they prepare for their FA Cup third qualifying round tie at Colwyn Bay on Saturday.
The Lions won 2-0 at their Blue Square Bet North rivals last month with goals from Josh Wilson and Stephen Brogan, but Kittrick warned: “There are no whipping boys in our division.
“I keep reminding the players how we lost to Ashington (three divisions below Guiseley) in the FA Cup last season, and it will be difficult on Saturday.
“If we don’t turn up and prepare properly for Colwyn Bay, we won’t win.”
Colwyn Bay are offering Guiseley fans a pie, chips and a pint (Guinness, John Smith’s, Carlsberg or cider) for £5 - but the offer is only available up to 2.30pm.
Match-day tickets are £11 (adults), £6 (concessions) or £3 (under-16s).
The Lions’ strength in depth has been a key factor in them defeating Oxford City 3-0 away last weekend and Stalybridge Celtic 1-0 at Nethermoor on Tuesday.
Guiseley were leading 1-0 on Saturday after an early goal from Wayne Brooksby but added second-half goals from substitutes Wilson and Nicky Boshell.
James Walshaw came on after 69 minutes against Stalybridge and got the winner six minutes from time.
Kittrick said: “Football is no longer an 11-man game, and James Walshaw and Gavin Rothery made a difference when they came on.
“They let you know how disappointed they are to be on the bench in the first place but that is how it should be.”
