Andy Murray’s success in the US Open has inspired many children to take up tennis.
Winter-long coaching programmes are available at many local indoor tennis centres, and Ilkley Lawn Tennis & Squash Club, which is an LTA Performance and Mini Tennis Accredited Centre, provides some of the best coaching and facilities in the county.
Talented Amber Woffindin and George Galins, who are both ten years old and Ilkley members, already train at Ilkley and seem to have a bright future as they bid to emulate Andy Murray, Laura Robson and Heather Watson.
Both Woffindin and Galins have had fantastic summers, beating the best in their age group to win the ten and under Ilkley Open event, and both taking a number of other titles, including the Ten and Under Yorkshire Championship.
Bradford Grammar School, who sponsor the Ilkley Open Ten and Under event, have renewed their sponsorship of programmes and tournaments at the club.
