Guiseley coast to victory and keep it clean
6:29pm Sunday 5th August 2012 in Sport By Ian Whiting
Fylde 0 Guiseley 3 Guiseley picked themselves up from their home loss to Bradford City in their previous pre-season friendly to record a comfortable victory on their trip to the west coast.
The Lions faced a stern challenge from their newly-promoted hosts but kept a clean sheet against the Evo-Stik Premier Division outfit.
An early goal settled the Lions down as Josh Wilson broke the deadlock in the sixth minute after James Walshaw had done all of the running. Andy McWilliams almost added a second but his shot was parried for a corner.
Walshaw was also denied by the keeper but Guiseley stretched their lead before the break thanks to former Bantams defender Mark Bower. The centre back converted a Gavin Rothery corner with a firm header.
Chances were few and far between in the second half but the Lions maintained their focus and made it 3-0 seven minutes from time when McWilliams got his name on the scoresheet, netting a left-foot shot.
