Ben Rhydding are celebrating reaching their first final but Burley’s dream of a third-successive Waddilove Cup triumph have been ended.

Lewis Bolton (99) was the outstanding performer as Ben Rhydding defeated Steeton by 56 runs to set up a clash with Aire-Wharfe Division One leaders Collingham at Ilkley on August 5.

Collingham defeated Burley with one-ball to spare as former Horsforth junior Ollie Hardaker (72no) guided them past the holders’ total of 180 which included good contributions from Charlie Davy (77), Ryan Cooper (40) and Ed brown (22).

Burley were made to pay dearly for losing their last five wickets for just 14 runs.

Ben Rhydding, who have struggled in their first season in Division One, are proving a bogey side for Steeton.

They pipped them for the Division Two title on the final day of last season and got the better of them again on Sunday in an entertaining encounter.

Thanks to Bolton’s magnificent innings, Ben Rhydding built a formidable score of 257. Charlie Swallow chipped in with 45 and then followed up with a decisive bowling performance.

Swallow, who took seven wickets the previous day as Ben Rhydding beat Bilton, took 4-15 as the home side were dismissed for 201.
