Steve Depledge is returning to Otley
Otley have announced their first signing of the close season.
Scrum half Steve Depledge has returned for a second spell at Cross Green, having left Fylde, Otley’s director of rugby Tom Rock said: “As soon as we knew that Steve would be open to a return to Otley, there was no doubt in my mind that he would be a great signing for us.
“He is a quality scrum half, he knows the club, and everyone who knew him from his first stint here gave great reports.
“Otley was his first senior club, he desperately wants us to be successful, and he is determined to contribute to that success.
“He’s experienced, while still young with his best years ahead of him. I’ve challenged him to come in and step up and lead, and I know that is a challenge he is relishing.
“In effect he will be a direct replacement for James Munro, who has left to join Champion- ship side Doncaster Knights.”
In addition to signing Depledge, Rock was keen to pay tribute to the departing Munro, who was an instrumental figure in last season’s dramatic relegation escape in National League Two North.
“James Munro, who was brilliant for us in the second half of last season,” said Rock.
“He goes to Doncaster with our best wishes and I am sure, knowing the character he is, he will be a hit for them as he was for us.”
