Siân Morgan
Ilkley’s Siân Morgan took a break from her A level revision at the weekend to compete in the City of Sheffield No Frills Meet in Ponds Forge.
The 18-year-old had an outstanding meeting coming home with two gold medals and four personal best times. The highlight of the weekend was her performance in the 200metres freestyle where she set a personal best time of 2.02.86 and beat the British Champion Rebecca Turner who is the only GB Olympic qualifier in that event.
Her second gold medal came in the 100metres butterfly with a best time of 1.03.25 Siân (pictured) also swam personal best times in her weaker strokes – 100m breaststroke and 200m backstroke.
In the 200m backstroke, she knocked ten seconds off her best time and gained another long-course National qualifying time of 2.21.73.
This meet was part of Siân’s preparation for the National Youth Championships in Sheffield in July.
She has qualified in a total of 11 different events.
