Guiseley gave a debut to one of their promising academy players in Saturday's home win over Nuneaton Town. The 17-year-old prospect Tabish Hussain signed first team forms on Friday and was called into the squad the next day.

The young winger came on to replace Jack Dyche in the 78th minute and he was in the thick of the action as Guiseley netted a late winner, for their first victory of the season in the Vanarama National League North.

Hussain kept his place in the squad for the game at Altrincham on Monday, as the Lions secured a 1-1 draw.

Guiseley’s new joint managers, Marcus Bignot and Russ O’Neill, are keen to give youth a chance and already had academy graduate Will Thornton in their squad.

Teenager Hussain played a big role in Guiseley Academy’s successful campaign last year and is set to be just as pivotal when they start their new season on September 12.

He was the latest of Dave Currie’s youngsters to make their bow for the seniors, while goalkeeper Fletch Paley, defender Luke Hogg and midfielder Jack Lazenby have also signed first team forms this season.
