THREE Ilkley school pupils, Mackintosh Hall, Harry Temperton and Max Chaplin, have all been selected to play cricket for the Yorkshire County Age Group side at Under-10 level for this summer's matches.

The trio are all in Year Five at Ashlands Primary and their call-ups mean that the school will be the only one in Yorkshire to have three boys playing in the same age group for the county this year.

The U10 side that they will be part of are set to play matches against a variety of counties all over Yorkshire, as well as away fixtures in Nuneaton (v Warwickshire), Liverpool (v Lancashire) and Nottingham (v Nottinghamshire).

It is a real achievement for the youngsters to be selected given that competition for places in the Yorkshire age group squads is regarded as the highest in the whole country.

The trio have been chosen after attending coaching courses at Headingley for the last two winters and competing for Bradford & Calderdale in the District fixtures/Yorkshire trials in May.

Those games took place against the other five regional districts, North Yorkshire; East Yorkshire; South Yorkshire; Leeds Metropolitan District and Kirklees & Wakefield.

Mackintosh, Harry and Max have already played their first match against Nottinghamshire in Wakefield, and were part of a winning Yorkshire side.
