WITH the club having formed on July 12 1968 following the folding of Pool St Wilfreds in 1963, Pool AFC are celebrating their 50th anniversary this summer at Pool Sports and Social Club, and everyone is welcome to attend.

The main event, on Friday, July 13 at 7.30pm, is top-quality entertainment and food but the club will be open from 5.30pm with memorabilia of its 50 years, and some of St Wilfreds on display.

Tickets are available from £20 and the club are hoping to see many of their old players and members in attendance to talk about “the good old days".

Meanwhile, following their latest season end on record (May 28) and a well-earned rest, Pool are raring to go for the new season.

They are continuing with two teams in the West Yorkshire league, and one in the Harrogate and District League.

Pre-season training starts on Tuesday, July 3 at 7.00pm at the club's training ground on Arthington Lane.

Old and new players are welcome as Pool look to recover from the disappointment of relegation by just a single point, and fight their way back to the level the set-up, members and facilities deserve.

The club is thriving at all levels, and its junior presentation evening takes place on June 30, where it is hoped a Leeds United player will be in attendance.

Junior teams from Under-17s to U8s are also to be run, spread across the Harrogate and Garforth Junior Football Leagues.
