BRITISH wins have been hard to come by in the Fuzion 100 Ilkley Trophy.

After Liam Broady lost to eighth seed Sergiy Stakhovsky (Ukraine) in the first round of the men's singles on Monday night after having four match points, there were defeats for fellow wild cards George Loffhagen, Alex Ward and Aidan McHugh yesterday.

Ward, on the comeback trail after suffering from golfers's elbow, lost 6-3, 6-3 to third seed Thomas Fabbiano (Italy), while McHugh went down 6-3, 6-4 to Kazakhstan's Alexander Bublik.

Fellow teenager Loffhagen was beaten 6-1, 6-4 by qualifier Hiroki Moriya (Japan) in the $150,000 ATP Challenger Tour event.

There was no better news in the women's singles, where Gabby Taylor was beaten 6-1, 6-3 in the first round of the $100,000 ITF Women's Circuit event by Dayana Yastremska (Ukraine).

For a home victory, spectators could take comfort in the men's doubles, where wild cards Broady and Scott Clayton defeated Thai brothers Sanchai and Sonchat Ratiwatana 7-6 (8-6), 6-4.

The main casualty in the men's singles was fourth seed Ilya Ivashka (Belarus), who was ousted 6-2, 6-4 by qualifier Noah Rubin (United States).
