GUISELEY Academy were beaten in the final of the National League’s Under-19s’ Champion of Champions competition.
The Young Lions had got off to a great start in today’s showpiece against Boreham Wood, with George Gomersall netting in the 12th minute.
Boreham Wood, the trophy holders, then stepped up a gear to level shortly afterwards.
Guiseley roared back ahead with a superb flowing move involving the quick feet of Tabish Hussain and an assist from Kayle Price for Jack Lazenby to make it 2-1.
The sides continued to battle on the huge Oxford City 3G pitch, but the Lions were dealt a blow when Boreham Wood netted twice in three minutes, the 36th and 39th, through William Wickham and Ionut Radu, to take a 3-2 lead.
Guiseley had one further chance before the break with a Lazenby effort shaving the bar.
Boreham Wood extended their lead in the second period through Alex Morgan and Radu grabbed a second.
Guiseley went close late on when substitute Lewis Waddington nodded over from close range.
