BRADFORD City Women skipper Shauna Legge insists she has nothing to prove to former club Guiseley Vixens as the local rivals prepare to clash this weekend.

Legge joined City from the Vixens in 2015 after struggling for playing time and her versatility saw her quickly became a regular for the Bantams in a variety of positions.

After being handed the club's captaincy in the summer, she feels she has now shown Guiseley exactly what she is capable of.

"I don't feel I have a point to prove as much as I used to. I've come a long way since being at Guiseley," said Legge.

"Playing against them now, as captain of Bradford City, is definitely something to be proud of.

"It's always a game to look forward to. Obviously with it being a local derby, it's always an exciting game to play as both teams want to win so much, so there's a lot of passion from both sides.

"Sometimes in games like this, the tactics and planning can go out of the window and it can literally boil down to who wants it more on the day.

"Saying that, it is important to try and stick to our game plan and stay composed, even when it can get a little heated."

Bradford have some great memories in this fixture, having never lost to the Vixens, and Legge has enjoyed some fantastic personal moments too.

The 2015-16 season saw City do the double over their rivals thanks to two comfortable 5-1 wins, with Legge bagging a brace in the away fixture just three months after switching clubs.

But memories are not so fond from when the two clubs met earlier this season, as Guiseley took points off City for the first time in a 2-2 draw.

"Our own mistakes let us down that day and we have certainly learned from that," said Legge.

"We don't want that feeling of disappointment after the game this weekend, so we will definitely be taking it to them."

Having faced four of the top five in their five 2018 fixtures so far, this weekend is the first of two fixtures against sides in the bottom three for City.

After Guiseley, they take on third-bottom West Bromwich Albion and Legge is confident of a fruitful fortnight.

She said: "Six points is definitely the target. We won't settle for anything less and I strongly believe we are able to achieve that."
