AIRECENTRE Pacers' duathlete Andrew Humphries has been rewarded for his fine run of form by being selected for the Great Britain team at this year's World Championships in Denmark.

In a double celebration, he has also been chosen to represent his country at next year's European Championships.

The duathlon consists of three parts, with a cycling leg being sandwiched between two running ones, and in a gruelling sport, Humphries has often stood out as one of the best in the country.

The Guiseley-based athlete performed well over the winter, beating his personal best time in the London 10K at the start of this month with a time of 35.51.

His consistently strong results in the PECO series, which consists of five cross-country races between October and March each year, have also caught the eye recently.

Humphries says that he is indebted to fellow Pacer Richard Walker's Sunday Speed Sessions, as he does not believe he would have reached his qualification goal without them.

The Fyn 2018 ITU Multisport World Championships Festival, which consist of duathlon, triathlon, aquathlon and aquabike events, will take place in the city of Odense this July.

Humphries will hoping to emulate the fine performance of Great Britain's male athletes at last year's World Championships in Canada, where they had three individual top-ten finishes in the Elite Men's category.
