EUAN Brennan did the Ilkley Harriers proud on the world stage with his fine run in the Armagh International 5K.

He finished in a magnificent time of 15.22, which shaved a whole 24 seconds off his personal best, leaving him in 148th place. The event was also notable for setting a world record, with 91 runners crossing the line in under 15 minutes.

Elsewhere, Dave Robson tested his endurance skills with a gutsy run in the 8.3 mile Flower Scar Fell Race. With muddy paths, a misty fell run and an alpine section included, he did well to come 34th out of 185 finishers, in a time of 1.22.28.

There were some impressive results for Ilkley Harriers runners in the various 5K park runs that took place over the weekend too, with Steven Gott's performance particularly standing out.

Gott finished third out of 167 runners in the Bramley race, in an excellent time of 19.19. Adam Bennett travelled to Ormeau in Belfast for his 5K and came in a magnificent eighth place out of 421 competitors with his 19.46 run.

Rob Cunningham took part in the popular run in Stretford, Manchester and secured a fine 12th place finish, among 492 runners, with his very quick time of 18.38.

The Harriers were particularly well represented in the Bradford 5K, with four of their athletes competing. Rhys Jones was the highest placed of the quartet, coming home in 31st place with a time of 20.53.

Oscar Street (52nd), Arthur Reilly (67th) and Paula Reynier (191st) were the other finishers, with times of 22.09, 22.55 and 27.30 respectively. There were 512 competitors overall in the race.

Geoff Howard performed well in the Skipton 5K, securing 20th place with his run of 22.50, while Karen Lambe came home in 68th place out of 154 runners, with her time of 26.47.

Petra Bijsterveld crossed the line in 190th place with a time of 26.17 in the Woodhouse Moor 5K. The race proved to be popular, with 468 competitors overall.
