GOLDEN-GIRL Hermione Roe was in stunning form in the North East Region Age Groups Swimming Championships.

Roe, competing in the girls’ 11-12 years event, secured a superb nine gold medals as she powered to victory in three breaststroke events, two butterfly contests, three freestyle races and the 200m individual medley, setting five club records along the way.

The Addingham-based swimmer's 50 metres medal in the freestyle race earned her a club record, while victories in the 50m and 100m breaststroke and butterfly events were also club bests.

She made the biggest contribution to City of Bradford's haul of 12 gold and five silver medals in the event.

Roe has now been selected for Swim England North East Region Swimming Training programme 2017

She will participate in three camps in July, September and November to further her swimming development.

Roe's next target will be the England National Summer Meet at Sheffield's Ponds Forge pool from August 2-6.

Guiseley's Sam Wardle and Ilkley's George Wilde have broken three City of Bradford club records between them in the Swim England North East Region Youth and Senior Championships at Sunderland Aquatic Centre.

The in-form Wardle was fifth in the senior 100 metres butterfly in a club record 59.51sec, while Wilde matched his position and club record in the senior 100m backstroke in 1min 01.14sec.

Wardle's other new club mark of 27.57sec came in the senior 50m butterfly, where he finished just outside the top ten.

Wilde was also seventh in the 200m backstroke, while Wardle was sixth in the 200m butterfly.

Ilkley's Sam Naylor was City’s other finalist with seventh in the 200m butterfly and ninth in the 200m medley and 200m backstroke.
