AFTER losing three and drawing two of their first five Taylor's Timber West Riding County Amateur League Premier Division games, Mirfield-based leaders Lower Hopton have notched 16 consecutive league victories.

They go into their final game of the season on Saturday needing only a point against second-placed visitors Newsome to lift the Dr Norman Hughes Premier Division winners' trophy for the first time since they joined the league in 1968.

Tomorrow night, Campion and Steeton will wind up their seasons when they meet at Scotchman Road (7.30).

The Division One title race will go down to the wire, with only two points separating leaders and third-placed Wakefield City.

Thornton United have two games to play, which are both away.

They face Golcar United Reserves on Saturday before facing third-placed Wakefield City on Saturday week.

City are at home to Steeton Reserves on Saturday.

The first of the divisional cup finals are on Monday, when TVR United will be seeking to add the Division Two Cup to their league title when they play Lower Hopton Reserves at Littletown’s Beck Lane ground (6.30).
