GUISELEY face a tense end to the campaign but boss Adam Lockwood and assistant Dave Penney have eased the pressure somewhat by steering the side out of the Vanarama National League relegation places.

The Lions are aiming for a third consecutive season at the top table of non-league football.

Guiseley have ten games remaining in England's fifth division, and half of them are at home, starting with tomorrow's visit of Aldershot Town.

It will be a tough run in as half of those games are against teams in the top seven, including Dover Athletic, who are in the play-off places, second-placed Forest Green Rovers and Tranmere Rovers, who are third.

Lockwood’s men face only one evening game, barring any further weather-related postponements.

The Lions head to promotion-chasing Gateshead on Tuesday, March 21, with all of their other fixtures being weekend games.

The season ends at Nethermoor with the visit of Solihull Moors but that game kicks off at 12.15pm, as do all the games in the division due to television schedules as at least one of the matches will be broadcast live on BT Sport.

One of Guiseley’s remaining fixtures is at current basement outfit Southport, but Lockwood insists that the Lions will approach every game with the same preparation.

Last weekend, Guiseley won 2-1 at Torquay United, from a goal down with ten men after Jake Lawlor had been sent off for a second bookable offence, and Lockwood said: “That was a massive, massive win for us and we still have it in our power to stay clear of the relegation places.

“I know that I keep saying it but every game in this division is a tough one and if you’re not at the races you will get nothing, and that goes for teams at the top as well as teams at the bottom.

“It’s even more obvious at this time of the season when points mean so much to every club in the division.”
