GUISELEY’S Adam Lockwood has been named the Vanarama National League’s Manager of the month.

The Lions were unbeaten in league and cup action during December with the highlight being the 2-1 Boxing Day win over table-topping Lincoln City at Nethermoor.

The 35 year-old's side also recorded league draws against Chester and Woking, an FA Trophy win at Chorley and success in the West Riding County Cup against Selby Town

Lockwood took over the managerial reins from Mark Bower in August.

The centre-back made over 400 appearances, mainly in the Football League, primarily for Yeovil Town (159) and Doncaster Rovers (178) after starting out as a trainee with Reading.

He was a member of Yeovil's FA Trophy winning team which beat Stevenage 2-0 in 2002.

Lockwood later played for Oldham Athletic and Bury.

He has played 40 games for Guiseley and earlier this season he appointed former Doncaster boss Dave Penney as his assistant.

Lockwood made his last league appearance against Wrexham on August 9.

Guiseley chairman Phil Rogerson said: "After an excellent run of results leading up to the toppling of league leaders Lincoln on Boxing Day it is gratifying that Adam's efforts have been recognised is this way.

"I would like to add my personal congratulations to Adam and his team, both on and off the field, and hope that they can secure three points when Maidstone visit Nethermoor tomorrow."
