RHYS Morgan has revealed that he wanted to call an early end to his side’s match at Hull last Saturday.

“If I could have waved a white flag with five minutes to go I would have done,” admitted the head of rugby after his side’s 38-3 National League Three North defeat.

Hull scored two tries in those closing minutes and Morgan added: “I really felt for the players. We struggled after a long hold up after Chris Gemmell was treated for a shoulder injury.

“Many of the players were exhausted and others were carrying knocks. It was really hard watching them suffer.”

He added: “I don’t want to take anything away from Hull because they played well, but the 31 points we conceded in the last 20 minutes made the scoreline a harsh reflection of our performance.

“I couldn’t have asked for more effort from the players because it has been a tough first half of the season and they have done well. We have seven wins to our name from 14 games and are in mid-table, a much better position than this time last year when we were third from bottom.”

Morgan is hoping that the festive break will give some of his injured players time to recover before their next game at home to Cleckheaton on January 7.

He has also hinted at the possibility of bringing in some new recruits.
