ILKLEY will be hoping to secure a second double of the season when they visit Hull on Saturday.

The Dalesmen defeated their Humberside rivals 31-8 at Stacks Field in September and would love to sign off for Christmas with another National Three North win.

Last week’s 20-12 home victory over Morley earned them their first double of the campaign and put them in a comfortable mid-table position.

But head of rugby Rhys Morgan knows they have a tough test on their hands against a Hull side sitting fourth after ten wins from 14 games.

“They are a good side and it will be tough, but I believe we can go there and beat them again if we play to the best of our ability.

“In this league there are no easy games and anybody can beat anybody else on any given day.”

Although Ilkley weren’t at their fluent best against Morley, they did show plenty of character to ensure they emerged with the win.

“I feel our players deserve a lot of credit for the way they stood up in defence. The tackle count showed the amount of work that was done in defence.

“Oliver Holtham, Elliot Morgan, Pat Power, Charlie Ramsay and Chris Gemmell were well into double figures for tackles. Even our captain Joe Rowntree reached double figures, probably for the first time ever.

“Protecting your line is important and I cannot praise the players enough for the way they tackled and covered when Morley were pressing in the second half.”

Josh Cockerham is available again and is sure to come into contention for a front row spot but winger Rob Rekis will miss out.

Rekis tweaked a hamstring against Morley, but Ilkley do have plenty of options for his wing spot. Aaron Magee, Luke Freer and Craig Johnston will all be vying for a recall.

Morgan said: “We will have a look at things at selection, but we do have options and that is always a good thing."
