Yorkshire Division Two: Old Grovians 17 Old Crossleyans 20

OLD Grovians started well in their bid to notch a much-needed win, and had a number of opportunities but found it difficult to capitalise on the hard work of the forwards.

With most of the penalties going in their favour, Old Grovians won a line-out in Crocs territory but Lewis Brook had a try ruled out for a double movement.

However, the visitors went ahead from a converted pushover try, but seemed to be rattled by how many penalties they were giving away, Ben Brown converting one to make it 7-3.

Crocs then survived a yellow card for persistent offending, but the hosts failed to capitalise on a pushover opportunity from five metres out and also a backs movement which ended with a knock on.

In the second half, Old Crossleyans stretched their advantage to 12-3 following a scrum and quick ball to the backs, but it didn't remain that way for long as Harry Garforth scored a try for the hosts that Anthony Griffin converted.

Now leading by only 12-10, Crocs landed a penalty but Alex Masterson profited from good work by the pack, rounding the defence to score under the posts for Grovians, Griffin converted to give them the lead at 17-15 with ten minutes remaining.

However, with the mist descending, the visitors from Halifax scored another try, and they held on via good defence against 14 players after Jaskaran Deu was yellow-carded, with Grovians only collecting a losing bonus point.
