GUISELEY today completed the signing of goalkeeper Jonny Maxted on a permanent basis.

Maxted, 23, joined the Lions at the start of September on a three-month loan from Forest Green Rovers.

The former Doncaster Rovers player is the nephew of fellow keeper Paul Maxted, one of Guiseley's heroes from their FA Vase triumph in 1991.

Jonny was in his second season at Forest Green, where he was a fans' favourite ever since his July 2015 pre-season appearance against Cardiff City when, as a guest player, he won the man of the match award.

He was signed shortly after and went on to appear regularly for Rovers in the National League before the return of Steve Arnold and an injury reduced his involvement in the 2015-16 campaign.

Maxted's career began with Doncaster, where he made it onto the Keepmoat Stadium side's bench in the first team aged just 16.

He gained senior experience from loan spells at Goole and Gainsborough Trinity and, after leaving Doncaster, spent time on the books of Hartlepool in League Two, until he was released and became a Forest Green player a couple of months later.
