National League Two North: Sheffield Tigers 13 Otley 17

CONDITIONS were difficult at Dore Moor, but it was Otley who mastered them, twice coming from behind to snatch their first away win of the season with a 79th-minute try by winger James Wood.

The visitors were the first to show but Tigers absorbed the pressure, eventually breaking away through full back Peter Swatkins, who found centre James Broadley in support to open the scoring, with fly half Tom Outram adding the conversion with just seven minutes gone.

The enlivened Tigers continued to press but Otley had settled, and while harassing the home side in their 22 on 14 minutes, scrum half Max Johnson snapped up a loose ball with his usual alacrity to break away, the ball quickly reaching full back Tom Hodson who went in at the posts, giving himself a simple conversion to level the scores.

Five minutes later, Otley were ahead after Tigers were getting ambitious with their passing while pounding the Otley line.

But the hosts were caught out when alert centre Jack Mackie intercepted and high-tailed it to the far end of the pitch.

A penalty on 33 minutes from Outram brought Tigers closer but neither side could sustain supremacy for long.

However, the fly half struck a telling blow on 70 minutes when he nudged the hosts ahead with a second penalty, and they set about trying to keep Otley at a distance.

They looked like succeeding until the 79th minute when they were driven back where Wood, equally at home at flanker, joined the forwards to fight his way over.
