BEN Magee is becoming a complete full back for Ilkley according to the club's head of rugby Rhys Morgan.

He gave the assessment after the young speed merchant scored two stunning tries to inspire his side to a 29-22 victory at Doncaster Phoenix.

The result brought to an end a run of four National League Three North defeats in a row and Magee was chosen as man of the match after scoring two stunning tries.

Morgan said: "We had a chat with Ben recently about expanding his all-round game. He was depending almost entirely on his running, but we have encouraged him to kick more and that came through at Doncaster.

"He had a superb game and I told him afterwards that he deserved to be man of the match and that I felt he had received a couple of awards in past games when he didn't.

"Ben is becoming a quality full back with an all-round game. He kicked beautifully and ran superbly against Phoenix."

Magee's tries helped Ilkley to win despite not being at their best. Their line-out faltered and that put them under pressure at times in the game.

Morgan and forwards coach Nathan Smith are determined to get things right and had the forwards working hard on the line-out at training on Tuesday.

"The line-out has been functioning well for us this season so we hope it was just a bit of a blip," said Morgan.

"Doncaster were strong in the line-out with two strong lifting pods launching their jumpers.

"This out us under pressure and led to us having timing issues as well as leading to problems with our throwing in.

"We need to get it right for Saturday because our visitors Lymm have a strong line-out."

One area of the team where there seems to be hot competition is on the wings. Kiwi Ricky Palacio has scored three tries in the past two games since getting his chance, while Dion Hendricks returned after injury at Phoenix and Aaron Magee got a run out from the bench after avoiding suspension when he appeared before a disciplinary committee last Thursday after being sent off against Sandal.
