Oxenhope Recreation 4 Ilkley Town 1

ILKLEY suffered a disappointing Premier Division reverse at Oxenhope on Saturday.

Despite starting brightly and taking the lead with a trademark Danny Bott free-kick into the top corner of the goal early on, Town were 3-1 down by half time, conceding some soft goals.

There were chances for Ilkley to get back in the game in the second half and the defence tightened up. However, another lapse in defence lead to an own goal and Oxenhope ran out 4-1 winners.

Danny Bott was Man of The Match.

Ilkley will look to get back to winning ways when they visit Pool on Saturday in a local derby, trying to avenge a narrow 2-1 defeat from earlier in the season.

THE Reserves fielded a squad with an average age of 18 against their second-placed opponents.

Once again the injury jinx struck as goalkeeper Alex Wormall had to leave the field with a head injury seven minutes before half-time.

Unfortunately the visitors got their noses in front, and finally ran out 4-0 victors as Ilkley threw men forward to try and get something from the game.

Tom Cross, Louie Squires and Dom Green all went close late in the game.

The Academy were without a game at the weekend but should be at home to Broomhill Reserves on Saturday down at Ben Rhydding.
