GUISELEY, who are bottom of the Vanarama National League, have parted company with boss Mark Bower and assistant player-manager Danny Boshell.

The Nethermoor club have lost all five of their league matches this season, prompting the board to act.

Bradford City stalwart Bower, who played for his home-town club for over a decade, was appointed Guiseley's manager in September 2013 after a brief spell in caretaker charge.

He guided them into English football's fifth tier for the first time by winning promotion in the 2014-15 season.

A Guiseley statement read: "Centre back Adam Lockwood has agreed to take interim charge of the team and he will take training on Tuesday evening.

"Adam will remain in charge until a permanent replacement is appointed and he will be considered along with all other applicants for the job.

"Martin Stringfellow and Steve Dickinson will continue their roles as part of the back-room staff.

"The club wish to place on record their thanks to Mark and Danny for their efforts over the last three years, during which time promotion to the National League has seen the club operating at its highest-ever level.

"The club wish Mark and Danny all the best for the future."

Prior to becoming manager of Guiseley, former St Bede's pupil Bower played for the semi-professional club, forming a strong central defensive partnership with Danny Ellis.

Before that, Bower had been loaned to York City and Luton Town while with the Bantams before playing for Darlington and FC Halifax Town, after which he joined Guiseley.

Boshell, 35, who is also Bradford born, was in his second spell with the Lions, staying for three years from 2010 before rejoining Bower after a brief spell at Altrincham.

Lockwood, 34, joined Guiseley in June last year after extensive Football League experience, chiefly with Yeovil Town and Doncaster Rovers.
